Twelfth Week of 2017 - A Photograph a Day - Project 365

March continues to bluster and blow, hot and cold. Fickle with no commitment to winter or spring. Still, hope lives, and spring peeks out where it can.

Day 78 03-19-2017

You must not blame me
if I do talk to the clouds.
~Henry David Thoreau

Day 79 03-20-2017

 "...of the fiction"

What is fiction and what is truth for you, in your life?

Day 80 03-21-2017

Tulips, promise that
spring will come

Day 80 03-21-2017

Day 81 03-22-2017

A pre-dawn walk in the park,
there a child's bike,
left behind.

Day 82 03-23-2017

In spite of the cruelty of a late March freeze, some of the cherry blossoms bloom with glory. A promise that even the hardest of times will pass, and
beauty will shine.

Day 83 03-24-2017

A rain-splattered door after a cold, wet start to the day the sunshine beacons. And the dog's reflection shows his wistful desire to be out playing in the mud.

Eleventh Week of 2017 - A Photograph a Day - Project 365

The eleventh week of the year, weather jumps from bitter cold to teasing warmth, the capriciousness of spring. Torn between longing to be out and about, capturing the change that spring brings to the landscape, and the desire to huddle inside, warm, waiting for sunshine and warm breezes.

Day 71 03-12-2017

Whenever sorrow comes,
be kind to it.
For God has placed a pearl
in sorrow’s hand.
~ Rumi

Day 72 03-13-2017

Snow and bitter cold threaten the blooming daffodils,
so I cut bouquets to brighten
the dark night.

Day 72 03-13-2017

Day 73 03-14-2017

Freezing cold temperatures,
freezing rain and snow coat
theblooming cherry blossoms
with ice. Some will survive, many will not - making those that survive all the more precious.

Day 74 03-15-2017

Bitter cold northern winds, sparrows huddle sparrows huddle in the fold of a cement wall for warmth.

Day 75 03-16-2017

Tulips in the snow.
March is a cruel cruel month.

Day 76 03-17-2017

The only daffodils to survive the freeze were the ones I cut for the house. Bright faces holding back the cold.

The Tenth Week of 2017 Project 365, A Photograph a Day

Closing out the tenth week of 2017's 365 project. The conclusion of a road trip, setting up for Artomatic installation at the end of the month, a busy week at work. Somehow I feel like I'm falling behind. I need an extra day at the end of the week to get caught up.

Day 64 03-03-2017

Road tripping home, side stops at covered bridges and other intriguing sites. Walter's Mill Covered Bridge, 1859,

The bridge originally crossed Coxes Creek, four miles south of the town of Somerset.  Major repairs were made in 1909, at which time wooden Burr arches were added to the bridge's original multiple kingpost truss system to accommodate heavier vehicles.  Threatened with destruction, the bridge was moved to the Somerset Historical Center in the early 1960s.

Day 65 03-06-2017

A camelia repeat, they are so beautiful, and the cold of early spring is starting to burnish their petals brown.

Day 68 03-09-2017

Blooming apricot tree. Cruel spring, warm for the last few days teasing us with glory, bitter cold weather is on it's way.

Friday's cheese board and prosecco with hibiscus blossoms. A lovely repast for a glorious day.

Ninth Week of 2017 Project 365, A Photograph a Day

Continuing the compilation of the weeks photographs, this the ninth week of 2017. A week of work followed by a weekend roadtrip, unseasonably warm temperatures reverting to the standard cold for late winter / early spring. And so it goes...

Day 57 02-26-2017

Outside, looking in. My kitchen window, casting light into the backyard, lighting the tops of the grasses.

Day 58 02-27-2017

Willow, greening early in late February, spring is sneaking in ahead of schedule.

Day 59 02-28-2017

Sweet-smelling camelias, making their blowsy, showy presence known - signalling the end of February.

Day 60 03-01-2017

iphone photo of the US Capitol in black & white, appearing timeless on a stormy day as March roars in.

Day 61 03-02-2017

Glorious star magnolia, the first of the magnolias to bloom. Sneaking in her blossoms in the early warmth of March.

Day 62 03-03-2017

A delightful surprise, an unexpected birthday gift from a dear friend.

Day 63 03-04-2017 Color

A road trip to Windber, Pennsylvania and the "trolley graveyard" was cold but beautiful. A treasure trove of old trolley cards, slowly yielding to the elements in the woods. The snow and the clouds a contrast to the rusting metal hulks. The same picture with two treatments, one in color, one in atmospheric black & white.

Week 8, 2017 Project 365, A Photograph a Day

The eighth week of 2017, a photograph a day, every day.

This week encompassed a road trip to Wildwood, New Jersey, a birthday, a week of work, and the weather pushing us to an early spring with warm weather.

Following is the past week's work.

Day 50 02-19-2017

Sunrise on Wildwood beach, New Jersey. A lifeguard stand, solitary on an empty beach. A few months away from the crowds of summer.

Day 51 02-20-2017

Another sunrise, another solitary subject. This, the lighthouse at Cape May, New Jersey.

Day 52 02-21-2017

Back to work, black & white focus on lines and shadows.

Day 53 02-22-2017

Driving home from work, the setting sun colored the sky before me.

Day 54 02-23-2017

A run of early warm weather reminded us that spring is fickle, the fear of cold is there but the warmth teased the flowers out o the earth.

Day 55 02-24-2017

I dreamt of white feathers.

In Native American culture, the appearance of random white feathers signifies rebirth and new beginnings, symbolizing hope and faith as well as to strengthen the connection between the physical and spiritual world.

Day 56 02-25-2017

 Springtime in February.

In the garden
I see only your face
From trees and blossoms
I inhale only your fragrance.
Rumi
